ELECTED 2021

Martin Young

Martin has been a member since 2005. Martin has played on Monday nights regularly since then, also interclub and tournaments, both held at Empire and further afield. He came on the Board in 2011 as Communications Co-ordinator and then took on the Buildings role in 2017. Martin has found his niche in this buildings role, as with a strong Kiwi can do attitude, keeping the building and equipment functioning for players. Martin has been a key organiser on Monday nights for several years, and also ran the Junior club by himself from 2017-2019, and continues to help with this club. Finally he is always on hand to do printing for the club, his work speciality.

Russell Buchanan

Russell has been a member for about 30 years, during that time he has been on the management committee twice, first coming on in 2001 as Promotions, then Chairperson 2003-2006, then a year as Activities in 2007 before having a break. Russell returned to the chair in 2017. During the last 25 years he has played primarily on Monday nights when time permits and winter interclub - he is very close to gaining the Chris Williams medal for 250 winter interclub appearances. An elite club in itself with only seven members currently.

Maggie Dyer

Joined 1995, Served on Board as Services Convenor, 2000-2009, Proactively involved in multiple fundraising projects, Control of all retail and catering services 2000-2009. Has been running the Commercial services portfolio and stepping in as Acting Chairperson when needed. Maggie is still actively involved in the day to day running of the Club.

Merv Allardyce

Joined 1969, Served on Management Committee 1970-1978; 1983-1997, Chair 1972-1978; 1983-1997, Served on Board 1998-2004, Served on Building Sub Committee for many years and logged countless hours on building repairs and maintenance, Selector 1984-1986, Coach at Friday Junior Club 1974-2009, Instituted Open Veterans Tournament, Initiated 1998 Club Management Restructure, Strong advocate for 2008 Stadium extension serving as Project Manager from 2005, Represented Club at Hutt Valley AGMs for several decades.

Joined 1970, Established Midweek Club 1974, Midweek Club Captain 1974-1998, Secretary 1981-1985, Established and led catering service 1980-1998, Served on Management Committee 1976-1989, Stadium Cleaner/Caretaker 1984-1991, Hall/Table Booking Agent 1979-1991.
